Proof Of Stake(POS)

Proof-of-stake (POS) is a mechanism in which cryptocurrency owners validate block transactions based on the number of coins a validator stakes.

To become a validator, a coin owner must "stake" a specific amount of coins. Coin owners with staked coins become "validators."

Proof-of-stake is designed to reduce the scalability and environmental concerns surrounding the proof-of-work (PoW) protocol.

Etherum is one of the major coins transitioning from PoW to PoS, but the process can take years to implement in an already established cryptocurrency.
